[프렌즈] 챈들러의 새끼 발가락 실종 사건 (s5e8)

Preface

시즌 4와 5를 개인적으로 가장 좋아하는데 오늘은 시즌5의 8번째 에피소드인 'The One with All the Thanksgivings'를 다루어 보고자 한다.

Plot 

 

에피 내용은 이렇다 추수감사절에 모인 친구들끼리 둘러 보여 앉아 자신들의 최악의 추수 감사절 일화를 공유한다. 각자 자신의 이야기가 더 최악이라고 목소리를 높이다가, 레이첼이 모니카의 최악의 추수 감사절 이야기를 꺼낸다. 챈들러와 로스의 대학 시절, 추수감사절이 되어 로스와 모니카네 집에 초대된다.  모니카는 우연히 챈들러와 로스가 설겆이를 하며 모니카를 뚱뚱하다고 부르는 것을 듣게 되고, 사건을 계기로 다이어트를 하게 된다.

 

그다음 해 추수 감사절, 모니카는 복수의 칼을 갈고 챈들러를 맞이 한다. 몰라 보게 예뻐진 모니카의 모습에 챈들러는 놀라게 되고, 추파를 던지려고 한다. 챈들러를 유혹해서 사람들에 손가락질을 당하게 하려고 했던 모니카는 모든 도구들을 몸에 문지르면서 챈들러를 유혹(?)한다. 어느 순간 식칼을 집어 들었다가 떨어뜨리면서 챈들러에 새끼발가락 일부분을 절단(?)나게 하고 만다. 응급실에 급히 갔지만, 실수로 새끼발가락 대신 당근을 가져온 모니카로 인해 챈들러는 영영 새끼 발가락 일부를 영영 잃게 된다.

 

The flashbacks continue to 1988; Ross and Chandler (this time dressed like members of Miami Vice) arrive for dinner to find Monica has slimmed down, and Chandler now finds her attractive. Monica tells Rachel that she wants to humiliate Chandler for calling her fat, so Rachel suggests tricking him into taking off his clothes. Based on Rachel's suggestion that she act like everything around her turns her on, Monica tries to seduce Chandler by rubbing various objects, including a knife, against herself. She accidentally drops the knife and severs his toe, due to the fact Chandler’s shoes are very weak. He is rushed to hospital to have it reattached but, in the commotion, Monica unknowingly mixed up the digit with a small piece of carrot. In the present, Chandler becomes upset after learning that he had lost his toe because he called Monica fat, and angrily leaves.
